Berlin-Mitte, Germany

Berlin Mitte means middle or center in German. As the name implies, this part of the city is in the middle. This section of the city is where the villages Berlin and Cölln were located in 1237. From those two tiny settlements, the large metropolis of Berlin has grown outward. Mitte contains many of Germany's governmental buildings. During the Cold War, the Berlin Wall surrounded Mitte on three sides. Many events in history occurred in Mitte. Members living in Mitte attend the Tiergarten ward. Mitte was my second area and I stayed there for four and a half months.

My pictures of Mitte can be found in the picture gallery.
